Great book for potential discus breeders December 8, 2008 Earl Strumpell (Carmel, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is probably the best source of information if you want to start breeding discus, and I should know I'm just rearing my first batch of over 100 fry! There are lots of pictures, great for seeing how it's done. I would have appreciated even more of a "how-to" but there's lots of information online for that. The challenge is, there are some differences of opinion on how to raise discus fry and some conflicting ideas. This authoritative book worked for me. As suggested by the author, I let the parents raise them the first two weeks and with this book on hand I knew what to do, and when, should something go wrong (like when the female started fighting with the male and eating fry). The fry are just 3 weeks old and doing well in their own tank. Now the question is, what do you do with tankfuls of 100 or so discus...
lacking breeding July 17, 2006 Phillip Sloper 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
the book's title lacks connection with the content which spends little time on the topic of breeding. Generally the book is excellenet clearly wiritten and useful but fails to deliver on the title.
Buy it just for the pictures! June 23, 2008 C. Lowell (Manchester NH) I am a beginning fish hobbiest and am debating getting into Discus. I didn't expect the book to be terribly in depth (only 64 pages), but what I wasn't expecting were the fabulous pictures! Good info, great pictures.
